This handy book includes walks of varying lengths and types all over Finistere, the westernmost department of Brittany. An essentially rural area, the region has sea on three sides, many estuaries, rivers and lakes, a swathe of deeply wooded terrain and the jagged peaks of the Monts d’Arrée in the sparsely populated interior. Information for individual walks includes directions, points of interest and factual detail of terrain/gradients. Colour photographs illustrate many of the walks. A further reference section gives contact details and practical information to help visitors enjoy activities such as golf, cycling, riding, watersports and fishing.

...We spent a lovely day following one of the walks which took in 2km along a fantastic beach. Easy to follow with a good number of different walks, short and long, coast, river, woods,towns etc... The suggestions for other walks was also a useful addition towards the end of the book. Would thoroughly recommend the book and the Finistere region of Brittany!

About the author
Wendy Mewes lives in Finistere and has written many books and articles about the history and landscape of Brittany. She runs the Brittany Walks organisation (www.brittanywalks.com) and is the author of walking guides to Finistere, the Brittany coast and the Nantes-Brest canal, as well as a recent column in the Independent newspaper on the Green Ways. She is a professional guide, working with groups and individuals all over Brittany, and also teaches courses on Breton history and heritage. Her latest project is a series of Ebooks on specific aspects of Brittany, such as town guides to Rennes and Quimper, and topics as diverse as the Parish Closes and Food & Drink. She is currently working on a book on the islands of Brittany.
